Signing In
The first thing Vibecheck asks you to do is create an account. You need one to use the extension — it unlocks the setup wizard, lessons, and saves your progress.
How to Create Your Account
You have three options:
- Sign in with GitHub — recommended, since you'll need a GitHub account for your code anyway
- Sign in with Google — fastest, one click
- Email and password — click the Sign Up tab, enter your email, and create a password
For Google and GitHub, a browser window will open — if you don't have an account yet, one is created automatically. Complete sign-in there, then come back to VS Code — the extension updates automatically.
It's Not Working
The sign-in browser window disappeared›
It got hidden behind VS Code or another window. Check your Dock for a browser icon, or press Cmd+Tab to cycle through open apps. The window should be waiting for you.
I don't have a Google or GitHub account›
No problem — we recommend creating a free GitHub account at github.com (takes 2 minutes) since you'll need one later to save and deploy your code. Or you can sign up with email and password instead — click the "Sign Up" tab in the extension, enter your email, and create a password.
I joined the waitlist on the website — is that my account?›
The waitlist and your Vibecheck account are separate. You create your account here in the extension using one of the three options above. The email doesn't need to match the one you used for the waitlist.
It timed out / nothing happened after I signed in›
The browser sign-in has a 5-minute window. If it expired, click "Try again" in the extension. Make sure you actually clicked "Sign in" in the browser (not just closed the tab).
I signed in with the wrong account›
Click your name/icon in the Vibecheck panel → Sign Out → sign back in with the correct account.
It's stuck on "Signing in..."›
Close VS Code completely, reopen it, and try again. If it keeps happening, reload VS Code first: Cmd+Shift+P → "Reload Window", then try sign-in again.
