Skill Files Install Automatically
When you install Vibecheck AI, the extension quietly sets up four special skill files for you in the background. These skills — /prd, /plan, /verify, and /code-review — are the core commands you will use throughout the curriculum starting in lesson 2.1.
Why This Matters
Before this feature, students would reach lesson 2.1, type /prd in Claude Code, and nothing would happen. The skill had to be installed manually first, which was confusing and easy to miss. Now it just works from the moment you install the extension.
What Happens Automatically
When VS Code loads with Vibecheck AI installed, the extension checks whether these four skill files are already in place. If they are missing, it installs them for you. You do not need to do anything.
Your Customizations Are Safe
If you have already set up your own version of one of these skills and marked it with a higher version number, the extension will leave your version alone. It only installs a skill if yours is older or missing entirely.
If you want to switch back to using ours, ask Claude: “Reset my /prd skill to the Vibecheck default.” It can delete your version so the extension installs a fresh copy on the next VS Code reload.
How to Turn It Off
If you prefer to manage these skill files yourself, you can disable automatic installation in VS Code settings. Search for vibeCoach.installSkills and switch it off. Ask Claude to help you find and update that setting if you are not sure where to look.
Something Not Working?
If you type /prd in Claude Code and it does not respond, the skill may not have installed correctly. Try reloading VS Code — that triggers the installer to run again. If it still does not work, ask Claude: “My /prd skill in Claude Code is not working, can you help me check if the skill file is installed correctly?”
